ExtraOral Suction
At Fifth Avenue Dental, we already, as a daily practice, practice universal precautions as outlined by CDC and OSHA standards of infection control. Safety is always our number one focus. Our high standard of care ensures that your trust and safety are never compromised.
We have added an additional layer of safety to the extended measures we have implemented in order to further protect all our patients and team. We are excited to be the first dental practice in Downtown San Diego to implement the ADS Extraoral Dental Suction System!
Extra Oral Suction Q & A
What is Extraoral Dental Suction System?
Manufactured by a local company in California, this system provides additional high volume removal of droplets and aerosols associated with dental care. With an extensive medical grade filtration system, along with a UV light disinfectant, viral and germ products are absorbed by the HEPA filter, greatly reducing the risk of exposure for our dentists, our team, and our patients.
How does it work?
The EOS system collects aerosols, droplets, dust and pathogens produced during routine dental procedures through a suction mouthpiece hood. Particulate matter is filtered by the dust/particulate filter. The HEPA filter captures particles down to 0.3 microns with 99.995% efficiency. Clean dry air is exhausted from the base cabinet.
The UVC lights are positioned on the HEPA filter and kills any remaining bacteria
and viruses captured by the HEPA filter and are exhausted from the cabinet base.
Will the smallest viruses pass through the HEPA filter?
The 0.3 micron benchmark is used in efficiency ratings because it approximates the most difficult particle size for a filter to capture. HEPA filters are even more efficient in removing particles that are smaller than 0.3 microns and larger than 0.3 microns.
The corona virus size is 0.15um around. Both captured by the HEPA filter through the diffuse and static effect.
